He who knows not and knows he knows not, he is a child, teach him;
He who knows not and knows not he knows not, he is a fool, avoid him;
He who knows and knows not he knows, he is asleep, awaken him;
He who knows and knows he knows, he is a wise, follow him.
Old Arabic Proverb
I’ve been currently reading a book called The Mechanical Design Process, by David G. Ullman, in order to complete a project report of a course that I failed when I studied abroad last year. The book is full of really interesting details about design process and therefore I could recommend to those who are interested in design and its process.
Except interesting details about design process, the book also contains dozens of proverb related. It’s a kind of weird to imagine a book of engineering, particularly mechanical engineering, with so many proverbs in it. However, most of them I have read so far are related to subjects in the book.
The old Arabic proverb above is one of those proverbs in book, which impressed me rather than rest. Therefore, I thought it’d be better to share it with you. So, here it is.
Note that, if you’re willing to check out the book, The Mechanical Design Process, this link will take you to the related page on Amazon.
